Famous LGBTQ+ Couples

Updated: Dec 25, 2022

For those who are part of the LGBTQ+ community, representation is important. It’s important to see those who are like them, those with the same sexualities or part of the same umbrella community, so they know that they are not alone. For queer and trans kids growing up, seeing these LGBTQ+ individuals in mainstream media and queer and trans celebrity couples signifies hope for them. It shows them that they too can grow up to find themselves in their identities and lead the same happy, fulfilled lives that these successful individuals and couples do.

Here are some famous LGBTQ+ couples:

  1. Anjali and Sufi: Anjali and Sufi are a couple whose love story is for the ages, meeting online, then in New York for the first time, then continuing long distance until they were finally able to move in together. They’ve crossed faith and gender, coming together in a beautiful celebration of love. Currently, they have a YouTube channel together, documenting their relationship as well as their own individual stories about their relationships and journeys with sexuality.

  2. Barbie and Elle: Barbie Ferreira, who is most known for playing Kat in Euphoria, has been dating Elle Puckett for more than three years. Puckett, often referred to as Rosie Ugly, is Poema's lead vocalist. The couple has identical heart and branch tattoos. "Love of my life," read the caption of their Valentine's Day Instagram image showing off their matching tattoos.

  3. Sarah and Holland: A good ten years before they started dating, actors Holland Taylor and Sarah Paulson got to know one another at a Hollywood party in 2005. After reuniting on a project for women's rights in 2015, their relationship became official.

  4. Lily and Jane: Over 50 years have passed since Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner started dating! Early in the 1970s, they fell in love, which also marked the beginning of a lucrative professional comedic relationship. After 42 years together, Tomlin and Wagner got married on New Year's Eve in 2013.

  5. Jesse and Justin: Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who played Mitchell Pritchett on the television show Modern Family, wed attorney Justin Mikita on July 20, 2013, in New York City, after dating him for almost two years.

  6. Sir Elton John and David Furnish: In an apparent effort to hide his sexuality, Sir Elton John married Renate Blauel after becoming engaged to his former mistress, assistant Linda Woodrow. The singer did, however, discuss his bisexuality in a magazine before publicly admitting that he was comfortable identifying as gay in 1998. Renate Blauel and Elton were now separated. David Furnish and John started dating in 1993, and they later got married to formalise their relationship. Through a surrogate mother, they have two children together.

  7. Jim Parsons and Todd Spiewak: Big Bang Theory actor Jim Parsons has been in a relationship with husband Todd Spiewak, an art director, for over the past 10 years. The couple made their first public appearance together at the 2013 GLSEN Respect Awards at Beverly Hills Hotel on October 18th 2013 in Beverly Hills, California, and they tied the knot on the 13th of May, 2017.
